CRM these days contains a lot of information and it isn’t always easy to find your data when you need it. Sometimes the information got lost in the huge pile of information.
But Microsoft CRM 2015 has some nice features to see the forest for the trees.
These are 3 ways to find the data you need.
The quick find
The first one is the quick find, this quick find can be find by navigating to a list of the data you want(in the example we need an account).
Right above the list there is input box with a search icon. You can type some text to search and then the system searches all data that is valid for the given criteria.
If the result is not what you expect, it is possible that the quick find is not configured properly and need some tweaking.
This tweaking is not part of this post, but will appear in one of the following items.
My favorite search feature for the versions until CRM 2013.
I enjoyed this one in CRM 2011, it was on each screen, and even on the dashboard screen it was available. With just one click, you could search in all entities of the system.
The advanced find isn’t restricted to the criteria configured in a view like the quick find does.
So even record that are inactive can be found by this feature. In CRM 2013 however there was decided to hide the advanced find behind the command bar button extensions (the 3 dots button). So it was a lot more clicks, which wasn’t that fast way like was.
But then came CRM 2015, I really enjoyed the fact that it got its place back in the ribbon.
Now it is possible again to use it from every screen in CRM (highlighted with red on the screenshot below).
In the screen below you can configure your own query, even with relationships to other entities.
But the advanced find has a strong competitor in CRM 2015. The multi-entity search is brand new in the web version.
Since CRM 2013 it was available in the mobile version, but not on web.
But now it is available and it has the power to search up to 10 entities at once.
This features makes it possible to search for the name of a customer and see the customer record but also the related records in just one blink of an eye.
The search is powered by the quick find engine which means it can be modified and tweaks easily by changing the quick find view of the entities(more of that in a following post).
You can access this search by the input box next to the quick create (highlighted with red on the screenshot below).
If you press enter you arrive in the search screen and with a click you open the record.
So these are the search features of CRM 2015.
Hopefully you enjoyed the post and finding data in CRM is easier than before.
If questions don’t hesitate, just ask on the blog or on twitter.
